John began his career in insurance and financial services in 1970 with Prudential in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area. Just a few years later, he opened his own agency and eventually became a partner at Mid-Penn Insurance in Sunbury. Over more than five decades in Pennsylvania financial services, John has built a reputation for the integrity and genuine care he brings to every client relationship.

John brought Joshua Knauss into his partnership in 2012 and has been a mentor to Josh ever since. In 2018, John handed over executive management to Josh but remains actively involved with the firm in an advisory capacity.

Recognized as Sunbury’s 2014 Citizen of the Year, John has a deep passion for education, leadership, and giving back. He has served on numerous boards — from the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce to Sunbury Revitalization, Inc. — and has held leadership roles in several state and national insurance organizations, as well as public office as a Councilman for the City of Sunbury.

John has served as an elder in his church for over 30 years and continues to be an active part of improving the community he calls home.
