John began his career in insurance and investments back in 1970 with Prudential in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area. Just a few years later, he opened his own agency and eventually became a partner at Mid-Penn Insurance in Sunbury. John has been helping clients manage risk and build their wealth for over five decades, which have been marked by the integrity and care he’s brought to every interaction.

John brought Joshua Knauss into his investment partnership in 2012 and has been a mentor to Josh ever since. In 2018, John handed over executive management to Josh but is still actively involved with the firm in an advisory capacity.

Recognized as Sunbury’s 2014 Citizen of the Year, John has a deep passion for education, leadership, and giving back. He’s served on numerous boards including the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce to Sunbury Revitalization, Inc. and has held leadership roles in several state and national insurance organizations as well as public office as a Councilman for the City of Sunbury.

John has also served as an elder in his church for over 30 years and continues to be an active part of improving the community he calls home.
